Survey invitations by text
How CAIRNHR sends employee survey invitations by text message, how you agree to receive them, and how to stop.
Last updated: October 2026
Who sends these messages
CAIRNHR operates Cairn, an employee engagement and retention survey platform. Employers — and HR consultants acting for an employer — use Cairn to ask their own staff for feedback. Messages are sent by CAIRNHR on that employer's behalf and are signed with the name of the person at your organisation who sent the survey.
What you receive
A short text containing a link to an anonymous survey, and nothing else. There is no marketing, no promotion, and no advertising of any kind in this programme. A typical message reads:
Sandy Reeve: your input on "Retention pulse" - 5 min, anonymous. https://cairnhr.ai/s/ab12cd34ef Reply STOP to opt out.
How you agree to receive them (opt-in)
You opt in yourself, on your own employee portal — the private page, at a web address unique to you, where your surveys and company updates appear. Nobody opts in on your behalf. In a section headed Surveys by text message you enter your own mobile number and tick a box that is never pre-ticked:
The choice you are shown
☐ I agree to receive employee survey invitations by text message at this number. I understand this is optional, that message and data rates may apply, and that I can reply STOP at any time. I have read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Agreeing is always optional. It is never a condition of employment, of using any service, or of taking a survey. The form is saved by a single button that works whether or not the box is ticked — leaving it unticked is a complete answer, recorded as email only. If you decline you still receive exactly the same survey by email; nothing is withheld from you, and the rest of your portal is unaffected.
Cairn refuses to send a text to anyone without a recorded consent, so a message cannot reach you before you have agreed. There is no other way to be added to this programme: we never buy, rent, or import phone numbers from any third party.
That screen is reproduced in full, and open to anyone, on the opt-in screen page — including a working demonstration portal you can walk through.
To change your number or withdraw consent, return to your portal and turn texts off there — or reply STOP to any message, which takes effect immediately and without needing to ask anyone.
How often
Infrequently, and only when your employer runs a survey. In practice that is a handful of messages per survey — an invitation and occasionally one or two reminders — with most organisations surveying somewhere between once a quarter and once a year.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. We do not charge you for these messages; your mobile carrier may, according to your own plan.
How to stop (opt-out)
Reply STOP to any message. You can also reply STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT or REVOKE. The request is recorded immediately and permanently, and that number will not be texted again — by us or by any employer using Cairn.
Opting out of texts does not remove you from the survey itself. Your employer may still invite you by email, and it has no effect on answers you have already given.
To start again after opting out, reply START, UNSTOP or YES.
Getting help
Reply HELP or INFO to any message and you will receive an automatic reply identifying us and explaining how to opt out. You can also email cairnhr@gmail.com.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your device.
Your privacy
Survey answers are anonymous. Your name is never shown alongside your responses, and results are reported only as summaries for groups of five or more, so you cannot be identified from a breakdown.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions, which includes an SMS Terms section.
